WINACE

WinAce is an archiving utility with an easy-to-use interface for creating, extracting, and viewing archives. It includes built-in compression for ACE, ZIP, LHA, and MS CAB formats, and built-in decompression for ACE, ZIP, LHA, MS CAB, RAR, ARJ, ARC, GZIP, TAR, and ZOO formats. You can create multivolume (disk-spanning) archives for ACE and MS CAB formats and self-extracting archives (SFX) for ACE and ZIP formats.

Version 2.2 adds support for Windows Terminal Servers, adds compatibility with Windows XP themes, and fixes compatibility issues with RAR 3.0 archives.

CNET Editor's Note: WinAce 2.65 introduces a new option for licencing your copy of WinAce. In addition to the regular shareware licence for USD/EUR 29.00, WinAce can now be used free of charge after installing a software package from our partner WhenU

After installing the Save application from WhenU, WinAce will be unlocked and turned into a fully registered version as long as the bundled Save application is installed and active. For more information, check the "Shareware information..." screen in the "Help" menu of WinAce once it is installed.

"Who uses ACE anymore???"

by CableguyTK on January 22, 2006

Pros: You can use it past the trial period.

It has a pretty interface.

Shows a lot of information in terms of the progress during extraction and compression.

Cons: Not free.

Very old program.

No one use the ACE archive anymore...and WinRAR is able to read it.

If ACE isnt worth using, then all that is left is ZIP creation and you can get that with any archiving program today.
